Teaching Assistant


Job Start:                           As soon as possible

Contract Type:                   Term time only 39 weeks per year

Contract Term:                   Permanent subject to a satisfactory 6 month probation


Having opened as a brand new primary academy in 2012, The Robert Fitzroy Academy continues to grow and now has established itself as a ‘Good with Outstanding features’ School (Ofsted, July 2014), in our beautifully refurbished school buildings. 


The school has worked hard during these formative years to establish its ethos and core values resulting in happy, vibrant learning environment where children are motivated to achieve. This role represents a fantastic opportunity. You will join the academy in its sixth year and work alongside a committed and supportive team of professionals to help build on our excellent reputation and thus have a real impact on the overall development of the school. As the school grows year by year, so too does the range of opportunities and responsibilities for our staff.


We are looking to attract teaching assistants with experience or individuals with teaching aspirations, to join our committed staff team.


Your role will be to support the class teacher, to support pupils learning and to support the ethos of the Academy.


We wish to appoint excellent Teaching Assistants -

In particular, successful candidates should have:

Experience of working with and caring for children

High expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour

Enthusiasm and dedication to developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching, mentoring and guidance

A commitment to promoting and fostering good relationships between children and with parents and colleagues.


You should be:

Forward thinking and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the school

Able to promote the warm, caring and friendly ethos of the school to pupils, parents and the public

Able to perform under pressure

Confident to use your own initiative when required.


Salary:           Level 2 TA:    NJC Pay scales Outer London (NJC pay scales are currently under review).

Grade 3 SP 15 – 17 £18936 -£19623 Please note this is the FTE salary. Salaries will be Pro Rata for the number of hours/weeks worked, the salary for this post is approximately £16778.00 per annum.


Hours:             36 per week term time only (8.30am – 4.30pm).
